So far I haven't gotten mine out yet. My giant C clamp now has a decided warp to it. The engine is out of the car as I finally just loosened the clamp screw and removed it with the coupler. Will have to align after re-installation. There's so much flex to the shifter shaft that it just bounces when I hit it with a hammer.
Since I'm replacing the engine with one from a wrecker, I had him ship the coupler from the one he pulled it from. It's not in as nice a shape as the one with the stuck pin but OTOH, the rubber isolator isn't pulling off either.
I've sketched up a small removal clamp unit and as soon as I have some time on a MILL I'm going to make a small little one with 20TPI 1/2" Grade 8 bolt as the screw. I did try it with the Clamp, the socket etc. Special tool needed here I think...
