turbocon86,
Not shifting into reverse suggests a shift control problem. If adjusting the shift lever reverse pin hasn't helped then you could raise the car, crawl under and disconnect the shifter control rod from the transmission shift rod. Put a small pin drift through the hole in the tranny rod then rotate it fully clockwise (when veiwed from the rear) then push it into the tranny hard. If that snaps it into reverse then you'll know that the problem is somewhere in the shift lever assembly (and not the tranny) or the connection between the 2 rods (how's the rubber coupling look?). You may have to rotate the front wheels a little to push in the rod because reverse is not synchromesh of course. If you can't push the rod in no matter what then take off the rearmost side cover, the one with the dipstick, and you'll see the reverse idler and it's control arm. You may see the source of the problem there. These trannys are sometimes very hard to shift into reverse when the pinion bearings are shot too. Good luck.
