So, I posted a message yesterday saying that I took off the instument panel in my 91 Saab 900 Turbo and couldn't get all the attachments to get back together. Thankfully, a bunch of people recommended the perfect way to do that by removing the driver's side front speaker...great idea. SO, I reattached everything (there were two wide cables, one on each side, a smaller one that attached right near the speedo cable and then the speedo cable). I have the saab garaged right now for a few reasons, but when I put everything back together (thought I did at least) and turned the car on to check proper function, the turbo gauge needle is stationary right at the point where the white and yellow lines meet (on the gauge itself) and the speedo needle doesn't move. Now, I didn't take her out on the road, or even move her at all, plus I have only had her for a couple days, so I couldn't tell whether the needle won't move without the car moving or not AND whether or not the turbo gauge needle does the same. I guess I could tell if everything is good when I move it at all, but reverse is having a problem, plus it is raining out right now, so I thought I would ask before I did move it...
Someone answered my question yesterday saying that there is a turbo hookup on the instrument cluster that has a 1/4" Outside diameter plug, but I didn't see one when I took it apart and I didn't really see one (not sure what exactly it would look like) when I was putting it back together. Should there be more than 4 plugs on a turbo instrument cluster, or is the turbo coupled with the gas and temperature gauges in the large plug on the right side of the panel?
I am kinda new to saabs (fixing them that is...I had a 95 900s that needed no work whatsoever), but I am pretty handy and like to get my hands dirty. So, if anyone could answer these questions: (1)should the speedo needle move without the car moving? (2) should the turbo gauge needle rest where it is until the car moves (even with revving the engine) and (3) is there an extra plug for the turbo or is it coupled with other gauges?
Thanks to everyone for all the help...
