that sound about right,.. Posted by vvack0matic [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: overboost questions: a little long..., tsw, Sun, 3 Sep 2006 15:10:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
but in 4 and 5th the boost should be as hard as 2ed and 3rd,
and the needle should only come down when you lift your foot off the gas
the reason the boost needle dropped is a sure sing of the waste-gate opening, letting some boost escape the system. A way to stop the gate from opening prematurely is in fine tuning the system, plugs, wires, dis.cap, rotor, coil, replacing bad or corroded wiring, higher octane fuel...
but in the end
the readings you got with 2&3 is the reading you`ll get with 4&5th
these are the readings i pull with a 88spg and the only mod. that was done is the over-boost switch was taken out from under the dash.
with the over boost switch out the turbo will be running all the time, not just when the gas pedal is leaned into or at a certain point, soon as the gas is pressed the turbo starts to spool up, running the motor like this i can only suggest to only use 93,94 octane, seeing how there is never a time the turbo is not building air.
the way to drop the boost is to reinstall the over-boost switch, any saab indy will have one laying around and know how to install it in a blink of a eye, (tell the indy the switch your looking for only has one vac. line hook up.) they will know what it means.
or keep the motor in tip top shape and run high octane, you`ll have no problems, i been running with out the switch for round 150,000 miles with no prob.s.
