your timing is off (retarded).. turn the distributor Posted by Saabu [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Engine timing, Erick, Wed, 20 Sep 2006 09:18:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
while engine is running and you'll notice idle speed change immediately.
if that doesnt help, check that your vacuum advance module is working - with the engine off suck on the hose and you should hear the diaphram move and it should hold vacuum.
With the engine running, plug the port on the throttle body and suck on the hose to the vac advance - engine speed should increase. if it held vacuum but idle speed does not increase, the advance mechanism in the distributor could be seized.
i did an alu flywheel too and marked it myself. you can buy number stamps - next time you have the clutch out, if you have a stock flywheel handy line the two discs up parallel to each other (using the locator pin hole for reference) and make some marks. i used a flat-bladed gasket scraper for the lines and numbered them 5-10-15-20-25 each 5th mark. simple and cheaper than paying a machine shop to do it. And the Alu is very soft so dont hit too hard.
