I am a frequent visitor, however seldom post and alway appreciate all of the information I get on this site. I have many stories about a local mechanic (so-called "Master Mechanic" which makes me laugh!), and all of them bad. I have followed up on many "repairs" of his because he didn't know what he was doing. Just wanted to share the latest. I had a bad coolant surge type leak from the cap, and the mechanic couldn't figure it out. I bought a new cap, reservoir, and still leaked. It wasn't keeping pressure in the system. I just filed the mouth of the reservoir to get a good seal, and VOILA! it sealed and works fine now. Just wanted to share. Needless to say, I am done going to that shop. My garage (I am a weekend mechanic) is much more reliable, and I learn a TON while making the repair. Recently, I even changed the head gasket! No problems, just a ton of time and runs great!
