Hi, I have a 1987 SAAB 900s, it is a turbo, has 160000 miles on it. It started having a broblem awhile back, the idle will jump up to about 2500 RPM and stay there, sometimes for days. I also found when this happens and I shut the car off, when I try to restart it, its flooded badly. sometimes The only waty to get it to start is to remove the fuel pump fuse and then it starrts, I let it run the few seconds that it takes to run out of gas, I shut the key off, replace the fuse and start it. if Im lucky it will start but will be very flooded for a minute or so. the other way I can get it started is to pull the fuse and just as it starts to run dry I shove the fuse back in and try to catch it, sometimes It dies flooded and sometimes I can catch it and clear it out.
after a few days of running like this it will go back to normal. its been a real pain. Anyone have any ideas>??
Thanks
PS also sometimes if I just let it set and idle for awhile,,, 20 minutes or so, the idle will all of a sudden drop to normal..........sometimes.........
