Yeah, really, Tired Iron's dirt track 900 was at the convention this year and I walk up to a racecar and point, "Hey! That's my engine in there!"
No turbo necessary, and with a modification to the (single) camshaft and intake the low end torque gets even higher.
That being said, I think it's time for a new fuel distributor/regulator. The car is tuned up and everything works fine (still 28-30 MPG at 209k) but she kind of hesitates a bit while accelerating, almost like the amount of fuel being injected is oscillating. It's a good thing I can get replacement fuel lines, seals, and everything else.
