With transmission removed from engine and the engine hanging from a chain it is fairly easy to remove the timing cover and replace guides and chain and then sneak the cover back up and against the cylinder head.
Saab have now superseded (discontinued) the paper gasket and they use the Loctite 518 instead on timing cover which is a superior thing when done right.
Even the metal gasket between transmission and engine is gone and 518 used.
