I know Porsche & Saab (maybe others?) factory fill their turbo engines with 0W-40, but my own comfort level lies in heavier viscosities for our Swedish turbos. Unless you have regular starting temps down to minus 20°F, I wouldn't use anything thinner than a Group IV 5W-40. If I never saw regular startups below +20°F, then I'd only use a Group IV 15W-50. I've read several good reviews of German Syntec, but I'm just not comfortable with viscosity or the supply chain reliability.
BITOG has air & oil filter forums too. I think there are a few Amsoil filter reviews there.
I believe it's still the original head gasket. I bought the car 8 yrs ago with 113k mi on it. I don't recall seeing anything in the PO's paperwork about having it replaced, & I've only replaced the valve cover gasket in the 85k mi I've put on the car.
