In August I took my '87TC out of storage mode for the first time in 3.5 years. Most of the time it was outside under a good car cover. My only prep was to change the oil and stabil the gas before storage. Battery out and on a charger every 1-2 months. About every 4-6 months, I would start it up and drive it about 1-2 miles around my neighborhood. Over the time my two biggest problems were moisture buildup in the car with some mildew. Remember its a convert. Also had some corrosion on electrical connections, mostly grounds. The amazing thing was that when ever I went to start it, I'd turn on the key and wait for 10-20 sec for fuel pressure to build then it would start at 1st turn.
One thing I would worry about now is ethanol. In boating forms that I watch they are talking about the gas and alcohol separting if not disturbed, and making a mess during long term storage (4-6 months). When I put my boat up for this winter I left the tank almost empty but put in Stabil. I'm thinking that any separation will be diluted next spring when I fill up the tank. I think that If I were going to store a car for a year+ now, I'd drain the tank.
