Zerex coolant and leaking water pump

For the past six months or so I had been having overheating problems with my ’85 900S, not into the red, but just running too hot, especially in traffic due to the fans running soon enough. About four months ago I replaced the thermostat and thermoswitch, both 82 degree. That didn't make a difference. This weekend I put in a new radiator and all coolant hoses. I thoroughly backflushed the system per Townsend's instructions and then put in a 50/50 mixture of Zerex G05 and distilled water. This morning I went out to my car at work and noticed a puddle underneath my car, sure enough it was coolant. It appears to be coming from the water pump, a Laso unit which I replaced 4 years/45k miles ago. Is it possible that the new type of coolant could have killed the pump seals? I'd expect the pump to last longer, especially since the coolant I took out wasn't that bad looking. As I said, I thoroughly backflushed the system for about 30 minutes until everything ran clear.
