Jay,
Sorry to hear about your SAAB story!
If the engine overheated and warped the aluminum cylinder head, there is usually other concerns (cracks in casting, cam bore alignment, etc) that need to be considered so replacement of the cylinder head would be a good option.
Any cylinder head from the turbo or non turbo 16v 900 (before 1993) would fit the 1985 engine. There could also be some advantage to use of the 2.1 liter (non turbo 900 1991 - 1993) since the intake ports would allow for more flow over the 1985 cylinder head. It would also allow for use of the OEM 1985 camshafts.
Also, the 1985 has an asymmetrical camshaft (different size/ht intake camshaft lobes) and should be changed to symmetrical if installing any 1986 or later 2.0 liter cylinder head.
You could also find better performance from installing your 1985 exhaust cam in conjunction with a later symmetrical camshaft.
Best of luck and regards,
GaryK at SWEDISH DYNAMICS,INC.
