smog test pt. 2

Last week's smog test didn't go so well. The details were posted back then, but the basic details were the technician stopped the test before things got going because he said his tail pipe "sniffer" got a snoot full of oil. Huge surprise to me since I'm not aware of any internal oil burning. The old guy really screwed with my head since he gave no details, saying only that I needed to have a mechanic look the car over. Ah, that would be me, and I wasn't aware of any oil leak problem. So doing nothing other than tossing some combustion chamber cleaner (Seafoam) in the gas and driving for a few days, plus resetting the plug gaps, I took it to another test center and the test was over in less than a minute. It passed no problem. A bit dirty on the low end, but almost down the middle at 25mph. He said it would probably do better with a hot cat. Considering it was a rather cold day and the location wouldn't allow any high rpm driving leading up to the test, this old turbo did real well.
