You see, it's not that the new accumulator is not holding pressure. It is now that with the new accumulator in place, the pump has to pump up a lot more pressure to meet the demand of the pressure inside the accumulator.
This will also mean that the pump is working harder and making more noise. That's why you hear it more now then before.
The pump was actually kicking in a lot more before but you didn't hear it since it didn't have to work that hard but it was actually killing itself having to run so often.
Now at least, it takes 4-5 pumps before the pump motor has to work again giving it some time to cool off between.
