thanks all... used PB Blaster overnight, then just went at it. Some scary noises from nuts/studs, especially on turbo, but they eventually broke free. Used impact wrench + deep socket on old sensor (after cutting wires), it eventually loosened. No way I could have gotten that O2 sensor out without getting the whole assembly on a bench (I had tried to loosen it fron underneath with a monster 22 mm wrench, but all I did was to start rounding the nut).
Just out of curiosity, how do you remove the studs from the turbo if you decided to replace them?
