I'm tracking down a intermittent variable idle hunt on a 91T 5spd.

There are many forum posts that state that a good AIC rotary valve will 'flop', be loose, and one can quickly rotate the housing and/or stick a finger in the shutter port and easily move the vane (I had a older VW GTI that was like that).

But is that specifically for the spring-based? LH 2.2 AICs only, and not the latter solenoid-based? LH 2.4s (and presumably 2.4.2s)?

The valve/vane is locked solid on two LH 2.4 AICs that I have on hand, when pulled and at rest, but both respond correctly/click to batt voltage and the ancillary CEL component test.

I also o-scoped one, and got a good square waveform...
