I bought a 9000 mirror from eBay as a replacement for a 900 convertible. Had no problem mounting it. This is the electric , heated type. You can just replace the mirror glass.
The mirror for the 9000 & the 900 convertible is mounted on 2 arms, instead of the solid design for a regular 900. I beleive it sticks out from the body an extra inch or so. I have no idea why Saab changed the mirror for just the convertible, but I'm sure there is some logical explanation.
(PS there are no "springs" on the electric type mirror, perhaps the other poster had a manual mirror.)
