taillight ills - from bad to worse!

Well, I took advantage of the warm weather here in NY today and did the taillight ground mod per the excellent Andrews instructions (Thanks Diskullman!)
Now, I have even more serious ills. The turn signal and hazard fuses are now blown,as is the back-up lamp fuse (LIKELY BLOWN PRIOR, AS THEY STOPPED WORKING AWHILE AGO) and the tach has crapped out?!?!?
Anyone know what is going on here? The mod was quite straight-forward and I grounded both sides to the ground screw attached to the crossmember under the trunk floor. I did notice quite a bit of the telltale melted plastic on the driver-side cluster, for what that is worth. I sprayed all the contacts with contact cleaner, which had no apparent effect.
I didn't have any extra fuses in the 15A and 20A variety to try, although I had a 10A that I put in the hazard relay spot (rated for 15a) and it blew promptly upon trying the hazards, FWIW. Tomorrow I will pick up some additional fuses and start poking around, but some troubleshooting help would be most appreciated!
