vsfoxe, what you experienced is exactly the same as what I'm seeing now: if I turn up the dash lights to the brightest, the fuse pops.
DirkP, no, I've not tried bypassing, but it makes sense. I wonder if the stop point has been bent, broken, whatever within the rheostat, so the draw is now higher than it was originally spec'd for.
Mikein, the main gauges have never been changed, however the auxiliary cluster is indeed new. But only two of the gauges draw power for lighting by way of the rheostat. The A/F ratio meter is a cluster of LED's that don't draw any power from that source. But hey, it is something also to look at as well.
