A few weeks ago I was pulling some parts for my 900 when I spotted an ambulance there and had to check it out. I found all sorts of cool electrical parts I could use for various projects. One part that was good for the SAAB was this nice 270 degree voltmeter. I put it in my bracket to go in the console.

I put a connector on the back of it to mate it to the future connections in the car. One thing that always annoys me is when I can't pull something out because it's been "trapped" by wiring that cannot be disassembled.

I tapped off the red wire, which is the accessory wire on the ignition switch for the voltage sensing wire. The voltmeter goes off when the keyswitch is turned off, and this is as closest electrically to the battery that I could get.

For the backlight, I just tapped off of the ashtray light circuit just above it.

Here it is all installed and put together! Future plans are to install a 270 degree 80 PSI oil pressure gauge, and an air/fuel mixture gauge in the other two openings. BTW, does that voltage look a little low? The headlamps are on, and the heater is on low. I figured it would be closer to 14 volts than that. Revving the engine up doesn't change it, but if I turn the lights off, it will jump up to 14 volts
