...I'd lower my standards. The junkyard surplus shows that your chances of EVER needing a spare are pretty low.Tthere are a vast number of never-used ones out there that a junkyard would pretty much pay YOU to take away.
The unlikelihood you'll ever need one also means that if you DO need one you won't need it for long and you won't be asking it to do much high-speed or demanding driving. Your cracked one would probably serve you very well - - that's only the outer layer, not the plies of cording or the inner rubber that are cracked.
You're only going to have a spare on for either as long as it takes you to drive to a tire store or drive home, or until you get the bucks together to get to a tire store.
They probably ARE available out there brand new but a tire store would have to order them, and they're going to think you're nuts.
Why not invest in a membership in AAA and buy a used spare from a Saab indy or a junkyard if you want the peace of mind of no cracks? And trust me, most of them out there AREN'T cracked and aren't going to crack for another 25 years if kept in a trunk and kept inflated and un-loaded.
