Hey Fun,
All you have to do to replace that switch is remove the lower dash pad, below the black dash. First you remove the console (six screws, four on the side and two below the rubber bellows in front of the shifter), then you remove the one 13 mm bolt behind the ashtray backing plate (four small Torx screws on the plate) and remove two bolts in the engine compartment. The foam lower pad drops down after you get all three bolts off. You'll need a nice combination of extensions to get the 10 mm bolts in the rear fender wells out. They may be covered with a rubbery goop sealant, just scrape it out of the way. It's wax-based.
I'm pretty sure the brake light switch is held in with two spring-loaded snaps. Squeeze the old one with pliers and kindly push the new one in.
The brake light switch is different from the cruise switch. The cruise switch has a rubber vacuum hose attached to it along with the two electrical contacts. It's the lower of the two brake light switches, part number 95 05 462.
If you need to remove the floor vent duct, that's five or six screws, two of which lie under a circular opening in the otherwise rectangular fins. Yep, you guessed it, Torx heads.
Enjoy! As always, if you need any more help, just ask.
