Pressure regulator, clogged injectors, too many short trips, dead NTC sensor (engine temperature sensor), or a dead oxygen sensor.
The oxygen sensor only kicks in after it warms up, so that may be your 5-10 miles.
Clogged injectors may only foul after the engine temperature increases, the cold start routine isn't holding them open longer, and the applied pressure drops (due to the short interval).
The engine temperature sensor is easy to check (and just as easy to replace...) just measure the resistance across the terminals at different coolant temperatures. Do this with the engine off, maybe once after a cold overnight, once after a minute or so of idling, once after five minutes, and once after the next test, which will test out your radiator and cooling fans too.
To cure fouled spark plugs (and other combustion chamber deposits resulting from bad gasoline and short-distance driving), change the engine oil if the car is due, change the plugs if they are due (make sure they are gapped properly!) and add a good-quality injector cleaner to a full tank of gas. BG 44K is my favorite; I used Techron before that. Next, with the engine warm, do around 30 seconds of higher-rev (4000 RPM should do it), high-load acceleration. You don't necessarily have to go fast, just get the engine speed up high for a decent period of heavy load. The high speed and heavy load combination causes combustion chamber temperatures to spike which heats up the deposits and completes their combustion. You may see black smoke out the tailpipe during this and notice a nasty smell. You will be burning these deposits out of the engine with the aid of your injector cleaner. Don't over-rev (my engines never clear 5 grand regardless of what happens, and only do that every other year) and be sure to idle down when you're done.
Do you have heat inside? If not, it is possible your thermostat is stuck open (fail-safe) and the engine is not reaching normal operating temperature anymore.
