I have a 91 900 Turbo convertible with 140,000 mi. It's always been really hard on gas for a smallish car - like 15 to 16 around the city and not much more on the highway. I've put plugs in it, new dist cap, rotor, and just recently had my mechanic set the timing. After he did that it ran a little smoother than usual but then I noticed it was sometimes hard starting, and runs a little rough for the first minute or so. Could this be a head gasket starting to leak a little? Could it be something else that's related to the poor gas mileage? Oh by the way, I also have noticed that the tailpipe does look like the cars running rich.
Any suggestions? I like trying to do as much of it as I can myself, but also live in L.A. and go to Walter Wong when I have to.
thanks
