Hall Sensor - i had this problem on my 83 900 T - car would die once warm, then start when cold. had to change out the magnetic pickup in the distributor. Cost me $165 for the silly part.
another time i was frigging with my 86 notchback and it wouldnt start. I happened to jiggle the hall sensor on the distributor and lo and behold the fuel pump activated on (the key was in ON position)! Fired right up.
i just bought a 91 2.1L and noticed in the manual it says when checking compression, etc disconnect EZK wiring just under the intake manifold to disable the Hall sensor (and thus spark i guess). Perhaps you have a loose connection there? its a 3 pronged bullet connector or some sort of bix block type connection.
good luck and post back with solution!
