IMLE w/about 4 hands-on 900s usually and consistently have measured between 13.8 and 14.2V at idle: higher when the batt is drained; as the batt charges up.
13.5 - 14.5 seems to be the norm
Usually measure almost instantaneous V drop with sudden load of ~0.25 - 0.5V (maybe up to 0.75V?), sometimes coming up a bit.
i.e. no load 14.0 V: sudden load drops it to 13.5V
Are you measuring both across batt terms and 2d reading across alt terminal to ground? I think any alt reading above full batt charge of +12.6 is 'technically ' okay but haven't seen an initial reading as low as 13.15V. Meter, ambient temps, etc may be involved. May be a fully charged batt at its lowest reading, and/or the chain of factors whitesaab mentions
