The only issue will be at the catalytic converter. If memory serves me correctly, the 8v has a three bolt converter & the 16v has a four bolt converter. From '84 up things should pretty much interchange. I run a 16v turbo exhaust from the cat back on my 92 900S which is a straight bolt-up. I also have run a '84 turbo exhaust on a '83 turbo which req'd. two extra hangers for the muffler. If you have a 8v normally aspirated I would try a 8v turbo exhaust from '84 which does not have a rr resonator. If p/n's are different it is due to different pipe diameters. Hope this helps.
