Hi,
My radiator fan is not working and i don't know where to look for the problem anymore.
It happend after an overhiting problem that left me with a broken coolant tank too. I checked the fuses and then i bridged the 2 terminals from the cooling fan termo switch with the ignition switched on and my fan didn't work. I also double checked if my fans were good and they worked when i conneted them to the batery. So the only think i could imagine being the problem, was the temperature gauge transmiter. Maibe was bad. So i bought a new one and i replace it. I, again, bridged the 2 terminals from the cooling fan termo switch with the ignition switched on and my fans(both) worked at that time (cuz i had it idle a few minutes, so i believe the coolant temperature was high enought to turn the fans on). So i start driving it again. My mistake was that i didn't realy wait with the engine on idle 4 the fan to come on (the coolent wasn't to hot), and i start driving it. Didn't past long and i had again the overhiting problems, lucky me, i realize in time so none of my hoses damaged. I bridged the 2 terminals from the cooling fan termo switch with the ignition switched on and my fan didn't work again (while my coolant was hot with high pressure in the system). I said, maibe this temperature sender that i just change went bad again. So i decided to switch it again knowing that was only 16$. But after i switch the last one too, when i bridged the 2 terminals from the cooling fan termo switch with the ignition switched on and my fan didn't work again (i didn't idle it much, maibe only for 30 sec or one minute, so the coolant was not that hot). What a dissapointing on me. So i was thinking that i'm gonna have to take it to a mecaninc somehow, but not everyone know how to work on saabs. But today, after i drove it a little bit, i again bridged the 2 terminals from the cooling fan termo switch with the ignition switched on and my fan did work. So i end up bypassing the termo switch with a wire to enjoy a ride today, and it worked.
But this is only temporally, and i'm gonna need a final solutions cuz as i can see, there are big chances 4 my batery to drain with this temporally fixing. So i came home and started to study the electrical on my car, maibe i can understand why is it doing this and i saw that there are also 2 relay: a radiator fan relay (D) and a cooling fan relay (K). As i'm seeing right now, it's hard to believe that the temperature sender (transmiter or sensor) is the problem. So i'm thinking one of these relay could cause all this. What are the chances 4 this to be true.
Are there any advises that someone could give me?
