Could be a lot of things but if you have a bad front motor mount I'd put that near the top of the list. A bad throwout bearing usually makes noise while it's under load, that is, while the clutch pedal is depressed. You said that yours is silent when under load. Other possibilities include; clutch (friction disc worn, pressure plate damaged, flywheel damaged), pilot bearing, clutch pedal shaft bushing, clutch master or slave or lack of lubricant on the clutch shaft splines. You could just stuff some heater hose or similar material between the safety bracket and the top of the motor mount. If the noise goes away then it was caused by the motor mount. If not, keep searching. Good luck.
