Can anyone tell me whether this points to an obvious cause?
1992 Saab TC manual
1) A few days ago, when the car was fairly cold, I pulled onto a highway, and the engine lost all power. I still had full electricity. I pushed the car out of traffic, and tried to restart it continually over the next hour, without success. I called AAA, and they added a little gas (to a half-full tank) and the car started right up!
2) Yesterday, when the car was quite warm after an hour-long drive into New York, the engine again stopped dead in the middle of Manhattan traffic, amid much beeping and yelling. I pushed it to the side of the road, and after 20 minutes of unsuccessful attempts, it suddenly started right up! It's been running fine since yesterday.
What's up with this? I suspect a fuel-related problem, because my fuel gage has been broken for a while (but I am fastidious about watching my odometer to ensure that the fuel level never falls too low).
If these symptoms point to anything obvious, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!!!!!
