I am so glad that somebody else shares this frustration with me. It seems every Saab I get has a stereo install gone horribly awry, and I can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is. c900s have about the most brain-dead factory wiring there is - one plug for speakers, one plug for power - and the easiest-to-use DIN-sized mount on any car I've ever seen. I just can't fathom why every single Saab I get has hacked up wiring and a massacred dash.

My current 92 c900Tc looked like a warzone in the dash area. Wires running everywhere, patches made of speaker wire and more wire nuts than I've ever seen short of the Harbor Freight Variety Pack. When I removed the Pioneer head unit and reinstalled an MP3 player, I yanked out somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 linear feet of wiring in the process. When I saw it sitting there on the ground I scratched my head and said, "What in hell was that all for?"

=====

The first Saab I ever had I bought a CD player for, and got it "professionally installed" by the kids at the Good Guys. It took them three and a half hours to get me my keys back. A year or so ago, I bought a Saab in Los Angeles, and before heading back stopped by Best Buy to get a new stereo for it - I did NOT wanna make the 7 hour drive back home without some CDs! I brought along sixteen crimp-on butt connectors, a pair of cutters, and a crimper, and installed the CD player in the Best Buy parking lot in 23 minutes. My buddy sat in the passenger seat waiting for the cops to come arrest us for stealing a stereo... :D
