Hi folks,
I did a thread search and looked around but haven't reached a conclusion yet...
Problem: Surging at idle when engine is warm. I replaced the AIC motor with a new one, have a new TPS (properly adjusted so both switches operate when supposed to), squeaky clean throttle body which closes to a good seal, New hoses with hose clamps, and no vacuum leaks.
Potential contributors?
Running Swedish Dynamics fuel EEPROM
30 lb/hr fomoco fuel injectors
3 bar fpr
adjustable pot on orange AMM signal return wire. Adjusted to roughly 500 ohms. No adjustments to pot seem to change idle hunt.
Further, I m running a reliable plx devices wide band 02 sensor. When the idle is around 1000 rpm, the o2 reading is at stoich, 14.7. Only when the idle drops to around 500 rpm does the signal go lean. I know the culprit is the IAC motor as I previously ran a big bore throttle body with the IAC ports capped off and I never had this problem.
Any ideas? Is this a common symptom with the IAC when running increased fuel pressure and larger injectors? Perhaps the injectors' min duty cycle is making the engine run too rich? I am not getting a check engine light like one would think when the lambda goes way too lean or way too rich.
AMM is the only thing that is not new. Looks to be original, but I cleaned it out with carb cleaner and it looks good. Not sure if AMMs can cause surge, though.
Any help would be appreciated. Car has been idle in the garage for over a year now and doing some spring prep for good weather.
