Czech Engine Light: should I even bother? Posted by Saana88 [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
So, after a year and a half of slumber, I reconnected the battery, put the plates on, and drove around in my '92 S convertible.
That was fun.
The third time I started the car the CEL lit up. I drove around for five minutes or so, and it stayed on. I found a vacant stretch of road, got the car to around 45 miles an hour, put her in neutral, and shut down the engine for around ten seconds while coasting. After restarting, the light was out.
Is this because the burn-off on the AMM didn't work, or is this because the battery has been disconnected for so long the computer has to reset its adaptives and it kicked out a false positive? Should I bother pulling the codes, or should I just drive around some more? (you know what I'm going to do, this thing is so much fun and I have to drop off my rent check.)
