Is this considered a rebuilt tranny or should a rebuilt tranny have new parts?
A: I would not consider it a rebuilt tranny. It has been repaired and perhaps modified/changed to increase reliability.
... Can you be sure a tranny put together this way will last for another 100K miles?
A: Nothing is sure...even a professional rebuild may or may not last another 100K miles. The only thing you can be sure of is the warranty on a professional rebuild. In this case, about all you can do is change the fluid every 30K miles with a good Ford Type F or (I use Amsoil racing fluid) similar fluid. There really is no surety in any automotive application, especially with an aged BW37 transmission. No one makes reliability parts or heavy duty parts for these trans like in a Powerglide modded for drag racing or other crate transmissions. There's just no market for it.
