The dash does not need to be removed Posted by DougM [Email] (#211) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DougM) on Sun, 15 Apr 2007 09:46:41 In Reply to: CHANGING WINDSHIELD IN CONVERTIBLE????, Aerowhead [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 15 Apr 2007 04:21:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The convertible windshields are glued into place using a urethane adhesive...the glass actually adds rigidity and strength to the body(most new cars are built using the same technology)
The urethane bond must be cut/shaved to remove the windshield, then trimmed down evenly. The you apply new adhesive before installing the new glass.
The pages in the factory manual give no mention of the dash being in the way, plus I've seen a glass man replace those type of windshields in the past, and pretty much no work is done on the inside of the car.
