I got to ford a stream (overflowing drainage and lowlands actually) in my '88 900. I love my ground clearance. It was around a foot of water on the road. Any more and I would have turned around. Keep it below the engine air intake, make sure there's room on the other side, and start with enough momentum to make it to higher ground. And yes, I checked the trunk when I got to work to make sure the rust hole in the trunk floor didn't scoop up a lake in there.
That hole's getting fixed next month.
The road was closed an hour later.
There was a Jeep in the ditch on my way by. Apparently when you have a Jeep you can cross anything without slowing down, or so they thought. It was in a deep ditch, the front wheels had about 30 degrees of negative camber, and the rear axle was sitting at a 45 degree angle. Ouch.
Why is it always a Jeep?
