i had come accost a brand new 16v 2.0 in the year 2003
it was a crate motor, or someone had it to just sit on.
if i remember right the sale of the motor was on blee-bay and the seller said he had a ware house full of motors and showed a picture of all the motors sitting in the shelves that went 20 feet high and the hall way was around a block long, this motor brand new was listed for 1500 as a buy it now, at the time i though (oh thats good to know) not realising the significances of the contact, and just forgot about it until now.
when i would buy the new motor.
i cant remember if the seller was a hole sale seller or retail but with that price had to be hole seller.
at the time i thought new 16v motors must be all over if this sellers saying they have plenty more.
now im not sure if this was the same seller, but i recall something about free shipping also, it would arrive in a crate where ever the buyer wanted it shipped.
now that 4 to 5 years have passed i know they still have new motors just from the picture alone, i`m wondering if any saaber here found the same seller and might have the phone number.
i have no idea if this seller turned into a saabnet sponsor, seeing they sell the 16v motor new, or perhaps some other seller deals with the new 16v motor.
at this point having a pristine motor for 1500, or even 2grand would be worth it,
im sure i could rebuild my motor new for a grand but the time alone to do it i would spend the extra grand to get a pristine motor, and even if the time was there to do it there could be the small chance something was not aligned right.
the only thing im leaning on, is a saab mechanic i met in my travels. super cool guy runs a mom and pop saab shop, him and his dad know ever nook and cranny of classic 900s and and between the both of them can take out a rebuild in no time im sure they would indeed tackle the challenge to rebuild the rings, lifters, well... im sure he would gut the motor and rebuild everything new.
however to do this im sure it would cost around 2 grand but then i never called.
i just thought to find a new motor wow... how nice would that be.
