something you can do is have a friend or a family member Posted by vvack0matic [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: No boost!!, koen, Wed, 2 May 2007 05:55:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
follow you in there car, first get you car up to operating temp, then at a stop light with them behind you slowly lean into the turbo (when you feel nothing is happening really lay in to it. then park the car.
check with you family member if they had witnessed any brownish cloud escaping from the tail pipe. this cloud would be very distinctive. there is no mistaking this cloud, being as (there might have ben)
the cloud would be so massive that it would be clear as seeing and hearing a freight train flying by at 75mph trailing 91 train cars.
now if this has happened in the way of the brownish cloud you turbo would be fine, if you suspect foul play from you mechanic then check out your motor.
only use es7 or eix7 .. ngk plugs if you see some other brand was installed replace them immediately, then look at the turbo unit, look at the wast gate lever, look at the long black bolt, now look very carefully to see if the bolt was adjusted, look for clean threads on the bolt, this would show where the gate was sitting for years then if adjusted there will be clean threads for the new setting,
then look to make sure the apc, vac lines are hooked to the unit, one major thing that can happen is right on the turbo unit there is a place for a vacuum line to hook to, under boost this line can blow off under odd circumstances.
look at the lines to make sure non have a hole or has ben dry rotted.
i had the line blow off the turbo unit and it left me without boost,
after doing a check of these parts can one continue on,
one last thing, check the hooter valve (you will see a vac. line plugged into the carburetor housing this vac line is located just under the housing on the drivers side in the front, it will run accost the front of the motor (by the fans) and then run into the hooter valve, unplug the end thats in the carb. and blow in the line. it should hold pressure
if you can blow your hole breath into the line your hooter valve is bad.
these are just some places to start in diagnosing a turbo problem.
all of them will leave the car with no boost what so ever.
