This car (87' 900t) was just rescued from the junkyard...apparently it was there for more reasons than I thought!
Prior to taking the car in for inspection I replaced a bunch of bad vacuum hoses (incl. all the under dash cruise control lines), disconnected & plugged the vac. hose going to the bad bypass/blow off valve, cleaned/lubed the AIC & throttle body w/Sea Foam, reset the AMM to spec., put in a new o2 sensor (swinging beautifully between .25v & 7.75v) & RR'd the cat to dump out a LOT of rust debris from the disintegrating front pipe...I repl. the pipe & re-installed the cat BACKWARDS hoping to blow out any residual bits of crud. I don't think this should make any difference, as it's basically just an oven. Actually I did MUCH more than this (see prev. posts), but I'll stick to emissions related stuff.
I had intended to put the cat back on correctly in a few weeks (& install a new heat shield), but now I am considering buying a new one. I did NOT install new plugs, as I haven't decided on which heat range to use, but the car runs very well, gets good fuel economy (28mpg on a 400 mi trip doing 75-80mph) has good boost & the exh. smells fine...though when I initially got the car it stank so badly you couldn't be near it.
Despite the exh. now smelling fine, here are the results of the test;
HC - 4.66 gpm (limit 2.25) FAIL
Co - 1.12 gpm (limit 23.74) PASS
NoX - 4.27 gpm (limit 3.25) FAIL
Co2 - 530.83 gpm (no limit indicated)
So...do I need a new catalytic converter, AMM, FPR...or -gasp- computer?
The TPS does not provide continuity at full throttle, but I don't think they floor it during the test. Any insight is welcome & appreciated. Thanks.

BTW - The o2 sensor I used is a Bosch 13190 GM appl. ($42), which I chose over the 13913 Ford appl. ($37) because Pep Boys also sells the other half of the harness, making the splice a one time affair...I know some people go to the junkyard for a Ford pigtail, but I like the GM connector better anyway & having a brand new one hanging on the shelf was too good to pass up! It's called a "triple female GM weather proof connector" You can buy it with or without wires attached - I like the one with wires (totally waterproof) but a cleaner install could be had with the one that utilizes the existing harness wires from the car...more work though. Cheers :)
