I had a no-start condition that I diagnosed all the way back to the hall sensor.
I ordered a SNAP rebuilt distributor from AutoPartsWarehouse online. Their customer service is awful, there are dozens if not hundreds of complaints about them and their horrible customer service, bbb online has a long list, as does complaints website. Never-the-less - I carefully ordered the part. Price was good. I kept good notes of who I spoke with and when.
The part came from Strictly New Auto Parts in Santa Ana CA, and was rebuilt by Hi-Test Rebuilders Inc. It has the Bosch numbers stamped on the housing.
I put it in and the car fired right up. Was very happy. Until yesterday, when the distributor started leaking very badly internally, draining out the cap. So it's defective. It'll work for now...but it definitely needs replaced again.
Their return process is not customer friendly. You can't talk to anyone that knows anything, and you get stonewalled by the front line customer-non-service reps...the most they'll give you is an email that you are welcome to write a complaint to. I'm not too concerned, as I did everything through online-chat-customerservice, and printed out each chat log. If I have to, I'll decline the charge through my credit card company supported by my chat logs.
It's also a bummer that the rotor is going to have to be replaced again on my dime, because as you probably know, they get glued on really tight.
A more reputable source that I found is NAPA. They have rebuilt distributors for about $100 more, but are of course very reputable and probably worth the extra cost.
That's what I know.
