Need a little help with some front end vibrations. A little history here. I just purchased a 1988 conv. turbo in good condition. New shocks, tires and complete tune up. I just re-attached the motor mounts(the bolts had fallen out with the previous owner) on the drivers side and checked the pass. side. All apear to be OK. I have checked the CV joints and all look good with no play, but the drivers side o/s boot is broken and I will replace. The engine has no hesitaions and runs great. The clutch is well worn and I will replace soon as I think the slave is leaking along with a front seal, but there is NO slip or No chatter.
What is happening is when I put a load on the vehicle while in motion(accelerating) I get a terrible vibration. It is really bad around 45-70mph. This only happens when under load. I let off the gas and everything is as smooth as glass. Under 45 I can still feel the vibration, but not as bad(sort of a slower version) and above 75 the viration is still present, but smooths out a lot.
It did not do this before I fixed the motor mounts. Now these mounts are not new, but I do not get much movement under load so I do not think they are bad. Also no noise from bearings.
Any ideas from the SAAB gurus would be much appreciated.
Thanks \Rich
