I'm just into this area for first time on mine, pulled two driver-side window motors from junkyard Saturday.
On the regulators I pulled out to get the motors, I found the plastic rollers or sort-of rollers that run in the channel that bolts to bottom of glass to be very stiff. I got a couple to turn sort of but one seemed permanently frozen. Then it occurred to me maybe they never turned, by design.
They're sort of a low-friction plastic and they and the channel they run in are well greased. They are round not so much so that they can roll as the window goes thru its motion, as so that, as their angle changes relative to the channel they slide in, they stay the same shape and slide the same. At different parts of the travel, arms at a different angle, different parts of the round glide will be riding in the top and bottom of the channel.
Round glides, permanently riveted to the arms, I'd say. I left them in the junkyard.
When I get my driver door apart to put in the new motor and grease and oil everything up I'll double check. Maybe by oiling well and grabbing the plastic wheels GENTLY with vise grips and turning, they'll prove to rotate smooth.
But a guy looking over my shoulder just now says he tried turning them on a Chevy and he broke one of them.
