Amazing improvement in my SiS...

...for years I have blown off the rear brakes. They were not wearing properly on the rotors so I suspected they were DOA. Well, I now had time to replace the calipers rotors and pads with the set I bought from Sobstory (RIP) 3 years ago.
My car always handled well, but now she stops on a freakin' dime! 0-50-0 times were animalistic.
My suggestion with the rebuilt units is discard the alen screws they send that mount the caliper to the spindle assembly mount. They use cheap steel with 5.5mm alen screw portals. These screws strip easily. I reused the stock OEM Saab 7 mm alen screws that also have better steel and deaper alen key portals. Don't forget the loc-tite on these screws and on the caliper mounting bracket to spindle 17mm bolts! I used anti-seize on the calipermount to dust shield bolts, the bleeder nipples, the rim alignment nipple that screws into the hub through the rotor.
I have dispensed with a star wrench to remove rims from my car. I have purchased several 2 and 3 foot breaker bars, and I keep one in each car with the appropriate socket. I thn am careful to never over tighten.
Next, I will attack the E-brake cables. The driver's side is frozen. I will buy thin stainless cable, weld it to the bad cable after cutting the tip, and I will pull it through after coating it with anti-seize. I will then cut to length, cut a hole into a bolt and pass it though and weld or lock it there, and then lock the cable to the adjustment screws in the E-brake handle/mechanism.
Best,
C
