it's more than likely the rear window.
Click on the "more from Joe98" tab to see past posts (last year) of when I went through this situation.
The corners of the rear window eventually tear into the canvas itself, and sometimes these holes are hidden since the canvas is doubled in those spots. Also, whether Saab forgot or intended to do so, the canvas flap that rests on the bottom of the rear window glass should be glued down. Many, if not all, newer c900TC's ('92 - '94) do not have this flap glued down, and it allows water to collect and eventually wear down the canvas on the inside. Get a tube of Shoe Goo and have a go at it! Mine's still holding after a year. I also used black duct tape to seal the holes in the canvas (flexible to allow proper folding of the top/window). Since it's hidden under the double layer of canvas, it's not visible.
You will probably have to remove the carpet and underlying mat, as that mat will never dry on its own. The side facing the floor pan is spongy and soaks up the water, while the other side facing the underneath of the carpet is poly-backed and does not allow water to escape. It's not that difficult of a job, just time-consuming. If you're feeling the carpet wet, then that mat is definitely soaked.
Good luck!
Joe
