I just replaced the fuel pump on a 1993 900s 2.1. Right away the gas guage started intermittantly jumping erratically but only while moving and especially when turning, and continued for about two days untill it just died all together. Double checked the wiring around where I was working right away and all seemed ok though. Car has been ruinning great for almost a week, but a couple days ago the car would not respond to the gas pedal being pushed all of a sudden. Car wanted to die out as if being flooded, but my gut feeling tells me it was being starved. Pulled off the road and the car idles fine, but try to give it gas and it tries to sputter out. Manually walking up the RPMs slowly at the throttle brings the engine up fine, but simulated foot pressing action tries to stall. I already took a stab with a fuel filter but it pretty much acts the same. It went into a period of not even starting to running poorly with the check engine light on for a few hours of working on it before I did the filter. It sounds as if the intake at the air filter is exhausting during operation, I thought it may have even backfired from there at one point, maybe I'm grasping at straws. I have also done a quick check of the vaacuum lines and all seem in good order. The exhaust has recently been done also, it was from behind the converter all the way back but I would be very surprised if the cat was the culprit. I currently have the throttle body off for an extensive clean, again not sure which way to turn. I searched the B.B. for like symptoms and the only guy with exact same problems never got a reply. I found elements of my issues on other posts and did the checks to see if their end results would help. Obviously they haven't yet.
Towing a running car is a really frustrating experience.
Thank you for your time.
