well, the 93 turbo with the heavily warped head has turned a corner. i had replaced the head and done compression check a couple of weeks ago. my results were something like 90-50-60-90. squirted oil in, straight to 180. the general concensus was fried rings. i had decided, after seeing the results, that i would just throw in another lump. i had already hooked the inlet manifold and exhaust manifold up, but nothing else. well, got the replacement lump (250), built my overhead engine hoist, and was all set to start pulling yesterday. after a couple of cigarettes, and strong coffee, i decided that it would only take a couple of hours to throw the rest of the car together, and give it a try-just for the hell of it-time is still free, right? well, after running REALLY badly for a minute or so, got it timed up, and, well, it runs! actally pretty well. no lumpy idle. revs nicely. pulls...ok. plugs are an even biscuit brown. as the revs increase, while driving, it appears to act like i am 'pedalling' a little. could this be a bad fuel filter? never had one of those before. air filter is good, all plumbing is also good. timing set stock at 16. reasonably loud injectors (injector?). trying to find test plug for ecu-not under bellows. 93 t 'vert (auto-blah!). think i saw something under back seat before. unfortunately, i never drove the car before the overheat, so can't compare the performance. run some injector cleaner into the tank yesterday, but i'm going to get some techron today. only boosts into mid orange, but apc is working. can i bypass the fuel filter for a test? can't do an extra compression test yet, as tester belongs to father-in-law, and he took it back.try to get it later. will post results. thoughts on fuel filter appreciated. thanks everyone for their input-without the saabnet, i couldn't own saabs!!!
