My 91/900s has a bit of piston slap at the bottom stroke of the piston. This is normal for high mileage engines. You see, at the bottom stroke the piston connecting rod is at an extreme angle. This causes more wear. At the top of the stroke everything is fine. I also had the problem as PETER MARTIN described. The leak causes the spark plug to get wet until it catches. This is due to the bad head gasket design. I would say, tighten you car back together and enjoy the ride. My 91/SAAB is riding right along just fine. It could use a total rebuild, but it seem to be move right down the road. I brought this car with a "nasty" oil pump leak. So I can't imagine how many times the oil light came on before I bought the car. Saab's are tough cars!!!
