The passenger side latch in my wife's 92 900TC has always been much harder to close than the driver's side, and it seems to be getting worse. I took a look at it last night and it seems that on the driver's side the hook mechanism slides nice and smoothly over the underlying metal as the latch is closed. On the passenger side though, there appear to be ridges in the aluminum (on the front bow) that catch and stop the hook mechanism as it slides up. This makes it difficult to close the latch even when it is not engaging anything.

It seems that I need to peel back the front of the top, remove the latch and grind out the ridges somehow and hope this allows the hook mechanism to slide more easily over the metal. I was wondering if anybody else had this experience, or can suggest an easier solution?
