No, yes, no, no.
Ramps are not necessary.
The oil drain plug hangs down near the cut in the skid plate, driver's side. The transmission drain is a huge star-shaped T65 Torx fitting whereas the oil drain is a standard hexagonal bolt.
I'd use a six-point combination wrench unless you don't have one, in which case you may use a six-point short socket as a good substitute.
This board is not restricted to the technical stuff. My '90 900 was one of the most reliable Saabs I've owned.
Verify that you drained your oil by checking the dipstick, since you have to take it out to refill the oil anyway.
If you have the right supplies, you may want to rotate your tires at the same time (I rotate at every oil change). If not, just get the oil change done and be happy.
After reading the owner's manual, your next step is the Bentley 16 valve repair manual. Even if you don't whip out the wrenches and work on anything in the manual, you at least have a great insight into how things work and what your mechanic should have to charge for.
